Democrat officials have been making life hell for residents by defunding police, putting criminals back on the streets, and letting homelessness run rampant. But one Democrat official, a secretary of state, went above and beyond her crooked comrades. And now, she is forced to resign in disgrace.

The resignation comes after local news outlets reported that she was receiving $10,000 a month in consulting fees from one of the state’s largest marijuana dispensaries; at the same time, the Oregon Department of Revenue and the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission were auditing the franchise and the cannabis industry.
Wow. For many years, we’ve reported on local, small-time politicians bending the rules to get rich. But a secretary of state!? This is really shocking. Shemia Fagan, the secretary of state for Oregon, was getting paid $10,000 a month to be a consultant for a cannabis company.
At the very same time, the state was auditing the company and the entire industry.
That is what we call a conflict of interest. Fagan’s judgment on this audit is tainted. Residents will now worry that she was unable to be fair and unbiased, considering the incredible sum of money this company was paying her.
Many will believe she was receiving bribes to go easy on this shady industry. Oregon has legalized recreational marijuana, but many critics and problems remain. It would not be beyond imagination to think that this company was paying off one of the most powerful people in the state to get special treatment.
But Fagan only admitted the scheme, when the local news exposed her. What would have happened if nobody found out? She’d probably never admit to what she was doing and would have kept her job. Only after she was outed did she resign from her job.
