Joe Biden appeared to be pressured by the party to pick a woman of color for his running mate.
And, the man did as he was told. His campaign chose Kamala Harris, the failed presidential candidate who once attacked Biden on the debate stage.
Harris comes from Jamaican and Indian parents and identifies as black.
Although that gets her some clout with a few voters, she was also a California prosecutor and Attorney General, who threw the book at many black men.
So, how do black voters feel about Kamala? Probably not how the Biden team planned:
Earlier this week, Joe Biden named Kamala Harris as his running mate. Democrats overwhelmingly like the California senator and have their eye on her to hold the top spot in 2024 if the Democratic ticket loses this time around, but a third of black voters say the announcement makes them less likely to throw their support behind the Democratic ticket despite their more favorable view of her.

That’s not the kind of news the Democrats were hoping for. They were already suffering from black voters for years.
Millions of black Americans have flocked to Trump’s banner after he’s fought to help minorities and those living in the inner city.
Then there is the fact that Joe Biden has a pretty bad track record on race relations. Although he was Obama’s VP, he has frequently made insulting remarks to black Americans.
Let’s not forget his recent, “you ain’t black” comment and the even more recent, “with some notable exceptions” comment.
On top of that, Democrats have embraced a radical new policy that will put countless black lives at risk.
Even Biden seems to support defunding the police (he called them “the enemy”), a move that most Americans hate.
So, what did Biden do to win back black voters? He picked a woman who was not African American, who had a track record of incarcerating thousands of black people. She even put black parents in jail, if their kids missed school.
Woah.
It should come as no surprise that the poll numbers are this bad. Black Americans are waking up to the fact that maybe Democrats may not have their best interests at heart.
At least not these days.
