FL Gov Overrules Ilhan Omar, Will Defund Cities That Defund Cops

Sharing is caring!

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped the hammer on rioters and looters and sent a clear message to Ilhan Omar and other Dems who would defund our police.

He introduced new legislation (GOP has majority so it will pass) that will strip municipalities of state money if they defund law enforcement, create new penalties for people who harass people in restaurants and who tear down monuments or damage or destroy public property during a violent assembly. (see video below)

“Recently in our country we have seen attacks on law enforcement, we’ve seen disorder and tumult in many cities,” DeSantis said.

“This has been a really, really sad chapter in American history.”

“We’re not going to permit local municipalities to ‘defund the police,’ or Florida will defund you.”

“We need to do more in terms of a strong legislative response so we do not always have to play whack-a-mole any time you have situations like this develop,” DeSantis said.

Also at the press conference was Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. He expressed great appreciation toward DeSantis for his support.

“You have no idea, governor … how proud we are of you just being here and saying we’re going to introduce this legislation, just being here and saying you’re going to support us.”

In typical Grady Judd fashion, the sheriff brought cue cards to help illustrate the difference between peaceful protests and a riots and looting.

“If you loot, the next thing you can try to steal is something for your food tray in the county jail,” Judd said. “Because you’re going to jail. That’s a guarantee.”

“The men and women of law enforcement that write you a ticket today … will stand in front of a bullet for you tonight,” Judd continued. “The men and women of law enforcement who you throw a brick at today … will jump into a river to keep you from drowning tonight.”
