Trump To Ditch Pence For Ron DeSantis If He Runs In 2024: Report

Sharing is caring!

Former President Donald Trump made his first big political speech since leaving office over the weekend at an exclusive GOP donor retreat. The retreat was held at the Four Seasons and bowing to the reality that Trump still leads the party the bigwigs all went to dinner at Mar-a-Lago to hear Trump’s speak.

He did not disappoint taking swipes at his favorite targets including Mitch McConnell. Trump also confirmed that he will decide whether he runs in 2024 after the critical 2022 midterms.

Trump likes to keep his options open, as you saw over the last four years, so everything can change but according to credible reports if Trump runs he is leaning towards ditching Mike Pence and picking Ron DeSantis as his running mate.

It is important to understand this is early and that Pence may not even want to run again on a national ticket and deal with the jackals in the media, but Trump has been spending a lot of time with DeSantis and even brought Ron onstage with him during his speech.

According to Politico: “Notably, Trump allowed DeSantis to share the stage with him. While Trump used his speech to share with donors that he was “disappointed” in Pence, he has privately told advisers that if he runs again, he wants DeSantis as his running mate.”

Trump also unveiled a plan for the GOP to win back the House and Senate in the midterms and ultimately the White House in 2024. He urged the GOP to stay true to the America first platform.

Trump took a swipe at Mitch McConnell calling the Kentucky Senator a ‘dumb son of a b*tch” at one point.

“I stand before you this evening filled with confidence that in 2022, we are going to take back the House and we are going to reclaim the Senate,” he said.

“I wish that Mike Pence had the courage to send it back to the legislatures,” Trump said of the 2020 Electoral College results although the clear majority of constitutional scholars said Pence did not have that power. “I like him so much. I was so disappointed”

“If that were Schumer instead of this dumb son of a b—-, Mitch McConnell,” Trump said before complaining about his election loss.

From Reuters:

Former President Donald Trump vowed to help Republicans win seats in Congress in 2022 elections but lashed out at two top party figures, Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell and former Vice President Mike Pence, at a donor retreat on Saturday.

…In prepared remarks seen by Reuters, Trump sought to position himself as the Republican kingmaker, saying he wanted to talk “about the future of the Republican Party – and what we must do to set our candidates on a course to victory.”

“I stand before you this evening filled with confidence that in 2022, we are going to take back the House (of Representatives) and we are going to reclaim the Senate. And then in 2024, a Republican candidate is going to win the White House,” he said.

Trump has spent the 2-1/2 months since his chaotic exit from the White House considering requests from 2022 candidates for his endorsement and has been giving them his blessing based on whether they support him and his agenda or not.

He has said any talk of his own plans – the Constitution gives him the right to seek another four-year term – should wait until after the November 2022 elections.
