NY AG Letitia James Issues Four Subpoenas In Cuomo Probe As Walls Close In On Dem Governor

Sharing is caring!

New York Attorney General Letitia James just issued a round of subpoenas as her investigation into Governor Andrew Cuomo heats up. Cuomo is embattled and fighting for his political life not to mention his freedom if James’ probe turns criminal.

It could too as Cuomo is facing multiple investigations on multiple fronts but is the sexual harassment investigation that seems most likely to ruin Cuomo. Cuomo knows he’s doomed and said: “If I just made you feel uncomfortable, that is not harassment, that is feeling uncomfortable. I never said anything I believed was inappropriate. I never meant to make you feel that way.”

Sounds like a guy with a lot of skeletons in his closet. According to multiple reports, four women who have accused Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of sexual harassment have received subpoenas to testify under oath.

The issuing of the subpoenas is terrible news for Cuomo as it signals James has something and is near the end of her investigation.

From The New York Times:

In the past few months, outside lawyers hired by Ms. James have requested troves of state records and have held hourslong preliminary interviews with several of the women now being asked to testify under oath. Joon H. Kim, a former federal prosecutor, and Anne L. Clark, a prominent employment lawyer, who are overseeing the inquiry, have led the interviews.

Ms. Clark has been delving into the specifics of the sexual harassment accusations. She has collected vast documentation of the claims, including text messages, emails and photographs that Mr. Cuomo’s accusers say support their allegations, according to two people who were present at interviews with the women and spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive matter.

Mr. Kim, the two people said, is examining closely whether Mr. Cuomo or his aides broke any laws, destroyed documents or other evidence or sought to retaliate against the governor’s accusers or interfere with the investigation in any way. The investigators are also looking into whether Mr. Cuomo and members of his staff followed the appropriate processes for dealing with sexual harassment, the two people said.

From The New York Post:

The state attorney general’s office has intensified its probe of Gov Cuomo, issuing subpoenas to former aides who have accused him of sexual harassment, The Post has confirmed.

The subpoenas issued in the last two weeks by Attorney General Letitia James require the four women to provide testimony under oath, indicating the probe, which began in March, has entered a more critical phase.

Ana Liss, who served as a policy and operations aide to Cuomo between 2013 and 2015, told The Post she received her subpoena to testify in the inquiry on Thursday. Liss said that Cuomo asked if she had a boyfriend, touched her lower back at a reception and once kissed her hand when she got up from her desk.

The lawyer for an unidentified former aide who accused Cuomo of groping her breast confirmed to The Post Saturday that his client had also received a subpoena from the attorney general’s office within the last few weeks.

Mariann Wang, a lawyer for Alyssa McGrath, told The Post Saturday that her client had also received a subpoena. McGrath, a current aide, said that unidentified accuser had confided in her that Cuomo touched her breast under her blouse at the Executive Mansion in Albany late last year. “She froze when he started doing that stuff to her,” McGrath reportedly said.
