Joe Biden’s administration along with Congress just approved a massive $735 million sale of weapons to Israel today. The sale comes amid growing criticism of some on the left of our continued support of our close ally Israel.

Bernie Sanders said: “The devastation in Gaza is unconscionable. We must urge an immediate ceasefire. The killing of Palestinians and Israelis must end. We must also take a hard look at nearly $4 billion a year in military aid to Israel. It is illegal for U.S. aid to support human rights violations.”

Ilhan Omar then quoted an earlier quote of Bernie’s on Twitter that said: “It is illegal for U.S. aid to support human rights violations.”

From The Eurasian Times: The US government has approved a $735 million sale of precision-guided missiles to Israel and awaits approval from the House of Representatives, the Washington Post reported on Monday citing sources familiar with the matter.

The White House has officially notified the US Congress of the proposed sale on May 5, just a week before violence between Israel and Hamas escalated, the report added.

Federal law requires the administration to inform Congress of such sales. Lawmakers have 20 days after the formal notification to stop the transaction.

Washington plans to provide Israel Joint Direct Attack Munitions. These weapons allow to transform so-called “dumb bombs” into precision-guided missiles, the Washington Post explained.

The proposed sale may face pushback from House Democrats as Washington’s unconditional support for Israel has increasingly come under scrutiny, particularly among the progressive caucus, the report noted.

The weapons sale comes as Israel pounded Palestinian terrorists over the weekend by blowing up miles of underground terror tunnels and taking the fight to the front door of top terrorists by targeting their homes.

“Senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander Hassam Abu-Arbid was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the northern Gaza Strip Monday afternoon as rockets fired from the blockaded enclave continued to be fired towards southern Israel communities,” The Jerusalem Post reported.

“The IDF said that Abu-Arbid, was killed in a joint operation with the Shin Bet intelligence services, commanded over the northern Gaza Strip brigade of the terror organization and was behind the launching of rockets and anti-tank guided missiles towards Israel.”

The strike comes as the Palestinian terrorists have fired more than 3,100 rockets at Israel over the last several days with approximately 450 of the rockets falling inside Gaza.

The IDF also struck more than nine miles of tunnels used by the terrorists in a 20-minute long attack that featured 54 fighter jets dropping more than 100 precision bombs.
