Kathy Griffin broke her silence this morning revealing to her fans that she has lung cancer and will undergo surgery to remove a portion of her left lung today.

The Hollywood actress said that she has never smoked. She said that her doctors are optimistic that the cancer is contained and has not spread.

“Yes, I have lung cancer even though I’ve never smoked!” Griffin said. “The doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and contained to my left lung. Hopefully, no chemo or radiation after this and I should have normal function with my breathing,” she added.

“I should be up and running around as usual in a month or less. It’s been a helluva 4 years, trying to get back to work, making you guys laugh and entertaining you, but I’m gonna be just fine,” she said.

“Doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and contained to my left lung,” the 60-year-old Griffin said on Twitter. She said she was hoping to avoid chemotherapy or radiation treatments if the surgery is successful.

“I should be up and running around as usual in a month or less,” wrote Griffin.

“The consequences for being unvaccinated would have been even more serious. Please stay up to date with your medical checkups. It’ll save your life,” she said.

From The Hollywood Reporter:

Noting that the past four years have been difficult for her, such as the firestorm she faced in 2017 after posing for an infamous picture with a fake, but graphic severed head of then-President Donald Trump, the comic-actress she said would be back as soon as she could to entertain her fans once again.

“I’m going to be just fine,” she added.
