President Joe Biden opened his mouth Wednesday and promptly inserted his foot by asking for a rematch with former President Donald Trump. Biden said that facing Trump again would only increase his interest in running for reelection.
In an interview with ABC reporter David Muir Biden said if he is healthy he will run again before almost daring Trump to enter the race and run against him. Hillary and her team wanted to face Trump too if you recall.
Muir asked, “I want to ask you about something I asked weeks before the election when we sat down. You said you would absolutely serve eight years if elected. Do you plan to run for reelection?”
Biden said, “Yes, but look, I’m a great respecter of fate.
“Fate has intervened in my life many, many times.
If I’m in the health I’m in now, if I’m in good health then, in fact, I would run again.
Muir asked, “And if that means a rematch against Donald Trump?”
Biden said, “You’re trying to tempt me now?
“Sure. Why would I not run against Donald Trump?
“He’s the nominee, that would increase the prospect of running.”
Biden and Trump recently said nice things about each other. Biden said:
“Thanks to the prior administration and our scientific community, America is one of the first countries to get the vaccine.”
“It is a little tough to be overly critical now because he just thanked us for the vaccine and thanked me for what I did. You know, that’s a first — so it is very tough for me to be overly critical now.
“I think it was a terrific thing, and I think it makes a lot of people happy.
“I think he did something very good.
“You know, it has to be a process of healing in this country, and that will help a lot.”
