After Mitch McConnell Freezes Twice – Senator Hawley Says the GOP Needs “A Change”

Sharing is caring!

Over recent months, Americans have been witness to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s apparent health maladies. The senior lawmaker froze before reporters, twice in as many months. His office stated that he has been “cleared” for work. However many Americans are using the episodes to demand term limits and cognitive tests for elected officials.

McConnell has not faced a warm welcome in his home state, either. It appears conservatives consider him a “Republican in name only” and have jeered him during recent appearances. Now, opposition is growing against him in the upper chamber of Congress. One top Republican is calling for a “change.”

From Breitbart:

Hawley told host Laura Ingraham that McConnell was not his choice to be the leader of the Senate Republicans and that he thought a change in leadership was in order.

“Yeah, I am concerned,” Hawley said. “I get asked about it constantly. I understand why people are concerned about it. I’m concerned about it. Listen, Laura, I will be honest with you — I did not vote for Mitch McConnell for leader. He is not my choice for leader. I think we need a change. I have said that for months.”

Republican Sen. Josh Hawley stated he was “concerned” about Mitch McConnell’s leadership. And during a recent interview, called for a “change” in leadership. Hawley stated he did not vote for McConnell to be the party’s Senate leader.

And, as the country approaches 2024, it appears he is urgent to see someone else guide the party’s election efforts.

Some have blamed McConnell for Republican’s struggles in Senate. While Kevin McCarthy helped Republicans regain the House, McConnell has presided over the GOP losing seats in the Senate. Critics blame the leader, going as far as to suggest he is putting Joe Biden’s agenda ahead of the party’s.

Sen. Hawley does not appear to be the only Republican calling for a change. Other GOP senators have spoken out against McConnell’s leadership. Former President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized McConnell’s decisions over the last Congress and called for Republicans to replace him.
